smell

not sure if this would be the proper section 
 to post this in. I have 4 ferrets that are in my room in the basement. since it is in the basement there is no ventilation, wondering what I can or others ha e done to help keep the smell down a bit. the cage gets cleaned every day, there is a fan that helps blow the icky air out of the room, but some people complain that it stinks in the house. 

any other recommendations?

Hello and Welcome to the forum! Usually if you keep the cage clean and the little pan clean the smell isn’t bad. There are pet odor candles you can get. chewy.com and other place online sell them. My vet has them too.

I think the smell is more of the musty basement smell but because they are down there everyone thinks it's them. the cage is cleaned every night. I will see if I can find the candles. any other options that I can do?

Feeding good quality food will also help. If you feeding low end kibbles then they will poop more. My litter boxes are cleaned twice a day. (am/pm). There bedding (which is hammocks, bed, baby comforters) are changed out once a week and washed. I feed no grain kibbles to my ferrets. Don't give your ferrets a bath. I hope this helps
