Help me find treats.
-
Friday, August 18, 2017 1:18 PM
So my ferrets pretty much don't like treats. I've tried store bought, cooked chicken, and other normal popular treats. The only thing they both like is Ferretvite but I don't want to use to much of it because I've read its bad for them. Do some ferrets just not want treats or is there a way to get them to like them. I understand the whole carnivore thing and try to stick to treats that are meat based but they just look at them and walk away. I've even mixed some in with their food, kitten pellets, and they just eat around them. I'm finding it hard to train them when they wont take a reward. Any ideas a a treat almost all ferrets like?

My two will not eat treats either . I dropped a cherieos on the floor and my ferret scooped it up . She was fine no side affects so they get a few every so often . They are gluten free no sugar added .

we give ours pounce and whisker lickins cat treats. They only get a couple a day. I've had 26 ferrets and none has ever sniffed twice ant any cooked meat. You can try a little raw chicken or turkey. In any case you may have to force him to taste it by putting some on your fingers and rubbing his gums. That's how we first introduced soups

Just remember Cheerios, are made from cereal and whole grains. "Carbs" Carbs turn to sugar. Choose high protein, meat based treats. Here are some ideas for treats: 1. Duck soup/Chicken soup 2. N bones 3. Freeze dried muscle or organ meat. 4. Meat base treats 5. Raw meat I give my kids the soup and freeze dried meat. Ferrets don't need treats....it's us human that think they need the treats.
