Deaf female viciously attacking newcomer
-
Monday, September 07, 2015 9:59 PM
I have Chai (3-5) and Bilbo (5). They've been together since I adopted them. Bilbo is very accepting of the new female, kind of ignores her but sniffs her and such. But Chai, Chai HATES her. No matter where we are, what we do. I washed everything, put bitter bite on the new females neck, etc... Chai will sneak up, strike, and viciously attack her. She'll shake her head like mad, and the new female runs away screaming (never heard a ferret scream!). The new girl will whistle at her, chirp, etc but because Chai is deaf, she doesn't hear these "I COME IN PEACE!" noises and attacks her to no end. I am not trying to put the new girl in their cage right away, she has her own cage. I just don't know what to do when you have a deaf ferret like this.

No blood on Bernie's (new girl) neck but she did defecate at one point. She also screamed and ran, so it's not rough play or anything.

I'm sorry that no one with any knowledge has responded to help you. I wish I could. It's very sad. I hope all is well with you as your fuzzies.
