ferrets pooping

I have two ferrets male and female ( first time owners) bought at same time same place PetCo. We are having problems getting them too poop in their litter box they are 5-6 months. We have put poop in litter box they still poop everywhere else they sleep in the litter box. We have tryed no bedding also just the bedding in the litter box. Now the female is going to diff. levels and pooping. I am Lost on what to do

normal kit behavior.  They will grow out this stage.  When I see my kits in the litter box...I just put them in their hammocks.


What type of litter box to you have in your cage?

we have a corner litter box we have put it in all the corners of their cage and they still move it to the middle and poop in all the corner

what type of litter do you use?  you mention no bedding in the cage, just in the litter box...  if you use the same bedding in and out...
we, and a lot of others, use things like baby blankets ad old t-shirts in the cage.  Also, corner boxes don't always work.  ferrets like to have all 4 feet in the box when they go.  you can get small rectangular boxes at wally world for a couple bucks.  try those.

THE DOOKS OF HAZARD

One of the best decisions I've made was switching from triangle to those big square ones they sell. O man, what a difference, and switching from cat litter to wood pellets too.

I have better luck with a high back litter box or cat's litter box. ferrets like to get their whole body into the litter box. Try different litter box
