I was going to mix Nature's Variety Duck and Wellness Core Kitten, or... Orijen mixed with something? Ferret Evo mixed with something?

any of those are good choices. It is best to mix at least two in case there are recalls or problems with one.

Ferrets imprint on food at very young and can be finicky eaters as adults. I like to imprint my ferrets on a variety of food, including different types of high quality ferret food/cooked or raw chicken/chicken gravy and or duck soup and baby food. I like to feed variety of ferret food reasons being: Gradually getting your ferret used to a variety of foods really comes in handy, especially if your regular food is out stock or isn't being produced anymore or the Mfg has a quality control problem. Imprinting your little one on duck soup/chicken gravy at young age makes it easier on you, in case your little one gets sick or goes off it’s kibbles. Duck soup/chicken gravy also makes a good healthy treat. I hope this helps.

personally i feed NV Duck adn turkey, with Rabbit mixed in every few months. I used to mix in Evo but stopped it because they didn't seem to like it. I had to transition my current 2 boys off of Marshalls and it was a nightmare, so i'm sticking to different flavors of NV right now. Soups are a good idea. Eggs, Salmon oil, a little olive oil. Raw meat if you choose that option

Nature's Variety or Orijen. EVO has had nothing but problems, and is now made by a not-reliable company. Apparently Wellness is now made in their own place, after numerous recalls, but I still don't trust them. I personally feed Acana or Fromm grain-free cat foods mainly, sometimes throwing in some Orijen or Now!/Go!, whichever is grainfree
