Everybody says woodchips are bad for ferrets, but would something like spruce shavings be fine?

To be honest there is really no need to use shavings or other disposible bedding with ferrets. It tends to get flung out of the cage anyway.
Ferrets: Wesley, Percy, Owen -rip Bandit- Bettas- Kitty, Pip, and Logan Sun Conure- Kita Gerbils- Piper and Tailer

Could i use spruce chips (they are made by a local mill so they are big and won't make dust) for litter because i have given up on litter training and am putting it in the whole bottom floor

Some ferrets are sensitive to the smell of pine and spruce is another type of fir. If the chips are dried before they are sold they might be ok but watch for skin reactions and breathing changes. The wood pellets we use are dried.
