Ferrets hate eachother !?!
-
Sunday, August 03, 2014 6:39 PM
I have had my female ferret for three years now and finally decided to give her a friend. I got a two year old from the RSPCA, and atm they are in seperate cages. The male from the RSPCA is alot larger and very strong and hyper. He us also very on edge as he used to be abused. I place my female near him a few hours theoughout the day and he just giggles and is excited to get to her but she shakes, hisses and runs away as she is terrified. I am gutted as its been over a week and just getting worse. When i put them together within seconds the male jumps on her to fight/play but my female runs away screaming and tries to bite him making him bite back. i have to pull them apart as they suddenly start attacking within seconds. Any rips or advice will be VERY MUCH appreciated !!!! thank

Hi there. Can I assume that both ferrets have been altered/desexed? This could take some time due to the male's background and the female not having a friend for so long. About all you can do is what you are doing, let them be around each other to get used to each other. But it may not work out. Females are more stubborn about accepting new ferrets.
