Fritzferret,
How fast do you go through the SweatScoop & how much does it cost (for how many ferrets)? I've heard that the tracking is worse than WB- can you tel us about that too?
PS- Funny pic- I love how another ferret got his head in the frame. I must have 1000 pics like that . . .

I usually get the SS from Target cause it's just convient for me and it's about 10 dollars (give or take cause of sales) for 15 pounds. The box lasts me a month give or take a couple days. You maybe able to find it at a better price somewhere else I just have not really looked into it yet really. I only buy 14 pounds at a time, so I'm sure you could get a better deal on one of 30 or 40 pound bags. I have 6 full size boxes (1 in the FN and 5 other in their room) and 3 ferrets. I noticed that it did not change much on the use from 1 ferret to 3 ferrets. Also I never need to empty the box. Since it scoops so well I only add more litter as it goes down, and never dump it all out. You don't need to if you scoop. I scoop at least twice a day. I've used a couple different corn cob litters (not WB) and they seemed fluffier and lighter than SS, so they tracked more than SS. I don't know WB could be different though. It seemed like the tracked pellets were way more annoying than what I get with SS. I just use a rug on the lower level of the FN and a shop vac about once a week - works fine and not anything to really worry about.

I Use SWheat Scoop Multicat for my 4 ferrets and couldn't be happier with the results.  I was using 15 lbs every 2+ weeks which is a huge improvement over the 30ish lbs of Yesterdays news I was going through every 3 weeks.  I have one ferret with asthmatic tendancies but it hasn't effected his breathing at all and I've been using it for about 10 weeks now.  My mom doesn't complain about the ferret odor anymore either, which she constantly complained on when I used YN.  So I am a satisfied User =3

Okay sorry 15 pounds (not 14, like I typed earlier) for 10 dollars at Target. I also see on petco.com you can get 50 pounds for $28.97.

I have used World's Best Multi-Cat litter since I adopted my two cats over a year ago. When I adopted my three ferrets this September, I just started using the World's Best for them as well. I have two cat litter boxes, and two ferret litter boxes, and I only have to buy a large 34lb bag every couple months...I have only gone through two bags since June. You use a much smaller amount than regular litter, only about and inch and half for the cats and just a thin layer for the ferrets. It cuts down on the ferrets smell SO much because I can scoop the poop AND the pee and the litter left in the box is dry and clean. Whenever I scoop I throw some fresh litter on top and its like I changed out all the litter in the pan! I waste far less litter than with regular.  People are amazed that you can go right up to my cage and they don't smell at all. A lot of people are "scarred" for life by smelling other peoples ferrets and wonder why mine don't smell. My ferrets have never tried to eat the litter, and they dont drag their butts in the litter either, they drag them on my wonderful clean bedding AFTER they get out of the litterbox.

Only problem I saw was that when I first brought them home they dug it in, but as soon as I put some poo in their they never saw it as a dig box again. The litter does track a little, but I have a small vac I use to spot clean. Its definately not very dusty, in fact the only time I noticed dust was when I was towards the end of the bag where it had all settled, and the only reason I noticed was because my cat ran across the pool table and left little kitty tracks. Other than that I never notice any clouds of dust when I move it around or scoop it out.

Is84- I totally agree about the DRAMATIC smell reduction, and I've had the same compliments from guests! Can you tell us whether the "Multi-cat" WB formula has a masking odor, and if so what it's like?

Fritzferret- So you're basically getting a good price at Target ($0.60/lb)- the same as the larger bulk rate (also $0.60/lb) at Petco. I'm considering trying Swheat Scoop again, since it might be less expensive than World's Best (depending on whether my usage is closer to yours or Demonwolf472's).

If my math is correct, Fritzferret's litter cost is about $0.85/week/ferret, with each ferret using about 1.25 lbs/week.
Demonwolf472 is around $1.25/week/ferret, with each ferret using 1.9 lbs/week.

If anyone else has litter stats or product reviews, I'd love to know! Thanks for all of the input so far :)

Additional note: I spoke with my wonderful veterinarian again, and she reiterated that there is no documentation of any harm caused by these clumping litters. She said that she personally has more problems with the dust in wood pellets. She did mention that walnut-shell and "corn-cob" litters may pose health problems, and so should be avoided. World's Best is made from whole corn in some magical proprietary process, NOT corn cobs.

From the World's Best Cat litter site:

3. What is the difference between the two formulas: Clumping Formula and Multiple Cat Clumping Formula?

The Multiple Cat Clumping Formula has an added ingredient that helps the cat litter clumps stay firmer and together longer. This is an added benefit in multiple cat households that have increased traffic in and out of the litter box.

4. What is the plant-derived ingredient in World's Best Cat Litter™ Multiple Cat Clumping Formula?

The proprietary plant-derived ingredient in World's best Cat Litter™ Multiple Cat Clumping Formula is a natural plant material used for feed.

5. How does whole-kernel corn cat litter differ from clay litters?

World's Best Cat Litter™'s scientifically proven, patented process coupled with its natural, corn-based pet/people/planet-safe renewable ingredients provide superior odor and clumping control more than any other litter available today. It is flushable, biodegradable and septic-safe. Made from all-natural ingredients—with no added chemicals—it's totally safe for cats (and the whole family). There are no toxins in case it is ingested. World's Best Cat Litter™ is silica dust-free

Is84-
I'd read that but found it rather cryptic. One reviewer on Amazon says that the Multicat has a "strong scent which doesn't appeal to me. The added fragrance also triggers my cat's allergies and causes him to sneeze." Another person says that they can't smell a difference between Original and Multi-cat.

Have you ever used Original? If so, did you notice a smell difference? Are the clumps really harder? Some members (myself included) may not need/want harder clumps.

I'm wondering if they add a "natural" aromatic to help mask odors. I'm allergic to everything, so that's a concern for me perhaps more than my ferts.

I know this is off topic a bit but I've used SS original and multicat and did not notice much difference other than I think it clumps faster, not really harder, which was a good thing to me. I'm happy with either. My litter has practicully no smell at all. That's what I love about it. I have a very sensitive nose, so that's a must for me. In fact YN has more of a smell than SS, weird I know. Whenever I have ferret parties everyone is always amazed of the lack of smell and wants to know what I use! I just feel great knowing that its 100% natural, that really puts my mind at ease.

I do not notice much of a difference between the original and multi, I have used both and when I want to buy cheaper I get the original because sometimes its almost $3-4 cheaper at some stores. I never bothered to check if it clumped harder, in fact, I did not even know that was part of the multicat difference. I only read the bag itself to check what the difference was, and read that a natural plant derived scent was used. I notice no perfumey or strong smell at all. My cats and ferrets never sneeze from it.

I don't notice any smell on either of the SS either. That's one of the reasons I liked it so much cause alot of thing bother my nose and the ferrets don't like perfume or strong odor litter either.
