I really don't think that is strange, some times they just want the type of play that other animals have to offer. You might try finding a toy or i took one of our toy's and tied it on the end of a old fishing pole and drag it around the room and let them chase it. They love it.

Okay great. I'll give that a try. I have to say I'm a little sad that he doesn't seem to want to play with me..... :(

My little guy decided today to try the FerretVite. I bought this stuff when I first got him and the only thing he was interested in is the box it came in! So it seems he's realized that MOM has the goods! He's actually coming up to me... for the moment! And he wasn't exactly interested in my toy on a fishing rod trick... the cat however was thrilled with it!

I read in your previous post that you've had your fuzzy about a month. He is probably still getting used to his new enviroment and is adjusting. Some of our fuzzies like to play with us and some mainly with each other. Try to find a toy that he really likes and play with him with it. More than likely he will come around. He also probably thinks your other animals are just bigger funny looking ferrets. Let us know how it goes.

Any suggestions for what kind of toys floats their little boats? I've tried cat toys, dog toys, household items not meant to be toys... little turd likes my flip flops and my cats.... I'm only good for the ferretvite and treats if he's interested :) Do you think it would be a good idea for me to get him an actual ferret to play with??? I've heard that they are happier when they are in pairs. True??

They like tunnels, check out ferret.com, best prices. Boxes are great fun. Dig boxes with cornstarch biodegradeable peanuts, with wood pellets mix is our choice here. Blanket and towel rides. Teaser toys to play fishing for ferrets is a hit here too. As for another fuzzy, that means more $ , a bit more poo, and time. Many forum members have 1 fuzzy, others of us have had ferret math hit the heart pretty hard. Fuzzies love company, if you have the time and financial ability to give a forever home to another, I think you'd be as happy as your lil guy. We are at our limit here at 12, ( been rescuing/adopting.) Not all ferrets get along, I still have 3 to integrate into the main group. But what a riot they all are, such individual personalities, and they keep each other entertained, and they let me join in too. So...another ferret ? ...double the fun, double the naughtiness, double the poo. Plus ferret vet bills. They are expensive lil creatures.

Our fuzzies have a play cage. It has balls, stuffed animals,(the kind with cloth or thread facial features)hard plastic toys. They seem to like the color yellow so that is the color of alot of their toys. They love to roll balls around the floor with their noses. They also love to play in boxes, tubes(we have plastic tubes and cardboard ones from where I work. They come from shrink wrap), even an old pair of jeans, shirt or a blanket. You never know what's going to take their fancy. They love to go through purses so sometimes I'll let them play with an old one. My daughter came over one time and her purse was on the couch. The next thing you know all you could see was a fuzzy butt and things shooting out of the purse.

Yep, they are expensive, I'll give you that! But I have to say, they are well worth it to me. I'm gonna try getting him some new toys, plenty of yellow ones too :) As for the other ferret, I would prefer to adopt one, but I can't seem to find a rescue or shelter within a reasonable distance to get one... I've decided that maybe he's just not as bonded with me as I had hoped so today when I went home for lunch I brought him back to work with me. (I work at a construction company, so I'm pretty much in the office alone all day.) So at the moment he's running around checking things out and he keeps coming back over to me as if to ask if he's still okay to run around.. so adorable.

Sounds like taking him to work with you was a good idea. The more time spent with you the more he should bond with you.
