I thought I would post and catch you all up as I haven't been on alot
lately.
I have been unemployed for the past several months, and even though I
knew it was only temporary, it gave me alot of spare time I don't normally
have. I went back to work about 3 weeks ago, and it's taken me a while to
get back into the whole routine. I've missed posting and replying to others,
and hopefully can manage to make time to be on here more. As for my bunch,
there have been a few things going on that haven't been very good.
First off, Merlin, who is est. at 4-5 years old is adrenal. I had initially hoped
to get him the Deslorin implant, but at the moment, I can't take the time off
to make the 9 hour round trip drive to get it. So for the time being, he will be
starting on Lupron Saturday. I started giving the entire group Melatonin back
in June, and even though I'm seeing new hair growth on Merlins tail, I don't want to
take the chance that he will have prostrate issues. Earlier this week, my little
adrenal girl Hope had an Insulinoma episode. I was pouring their soup and noticed that
she was having a hard time getting up. Thinking initially that she had her claw stuck in the
bedding, I pulled her out of her sleeping box and set her on the floor near her soup. She
toppled over onto her side. I picked her up and looked at her and noticed that she was drooling.
I ran and got the syringe and fed her some soup. She perked up immediately, but I started her
on Prednisolone twice a day, and she gets soup 4 times a day now instead of 2. With everything she has going on
with Adrenal, and now Insulinoma, she also has a very large mass. Because of her age and health,
we've opted not to do a bunch of tests, but she either has a very enlarged spleen, an enormous Adrenal
tumor, or possibly the cancer has metastisized. Whatever the cause she doesn't seem to be terribly
bothered by it. She has so much spunk and is the feistiest little girl you have ever seen! When she hears the
word 'soup' I doubt if a pack of wild dogs could keep her from it.....lol.
My vet keeps teasing me about getting her a sweater. Even though shes been on Lupron for almost
5 months now, and has regrown some hair, she is still primarily naked. For fun, I made her a pink sweater
to wear to her last appointment, complete with 'bling' on it! It was very cute for the entire 5 minutes that
she kept it on....lol
