2 of my ferrets have those black dot things (Black heads?) on their tails and the furs gotten a bit thin.  anyone know anything that works well on this?

I like to use clear and clean facial cleanser.  Wipe down tail with cleanser once a day.

I hope this helps

I make a liquidy paste out of baking powder and water.  Then i take a soft toothbrush, and clean the tail a once or twice a day until it gets better.

I am such a jamoke.  I use the ferretone trick for nail clipping but have put off cleaning Ernie's tail cuz I kept thinking--how am I gonna do this by myself?  He definitely has rat tail, so I'm definitely trying tonight.  geez--I really need to question my ferreting skills LOL

They are blackheads - the oils have congealed in the pores.  So just use some of the advice listed above and you're good to go.

Ok.. heres another (stupid) question.. when the blackheads clear up, will it help with the regrowth of some hair?  Si has had that for quite some time, his hair grew back on his body after his surgery, but his tail.. lol   I will try the methods suggested.  Hopefully some hair will come back in.

Yes, the hair will grow back on the tail.  It's just takes a while.

Gorbie got that on her tail too, but I don't mind. Makes her unique.

it does take a while.  Eddie came down with rat tail in early summer and he just recently grew his fur back with his winter coat.

Yeah I think Gorbie is starting to grow hers back now. The more they sleep the more hair they have when they wake it seems.
