excessive neck grooming between ferrets? - Friday, June 30, 2017 11:11 AM
hiya, my name is jackson and i'm new to the site, and kind of a newbie to ferret behavior---
recently, i mean yesterday, we got a new ferret! we're unsure of his name yet. we brought him home to our 9 month old deaf panda ferret, mika. this was mika's first time seeing another ferret, and there was really no aggression towards each other.

the really weird thing i noticed was that mika will follow the baby around constantly--- he will push him down a little with his paw and excessively groom the baby's neck? he would occasionally try to scruff him while he was at it. the baby really didn't mind it because he was exploring the area and not paying attention to mika. which mika finds annoying i presume. whenever the baby is running away or not paying attention to him, he will hiss, but not in an aggressive manner.

does anyone know why mika is doing this and what kind of dominant behavior it is?
