Homemade Playpen - Friday, June 24, 2011 5:25 PM
Recently our adrenal boy has been very fidgity and not wanting to be in his cage. We decided maybe a playpen would be the answer. I ordered one and then sent it back because I accidently ordered one to small. Instead of ordering another I asked my husband if he thought using the wire panels from 3 extra cages we had would work. The cages were exactly the same. We zip tied the panels together. Took 1x4's along the bottom and top (both sides) and screwed them together. Then screwed a thin sheet of plywood type board on top. Not only does it have a large door for me to go inside if necessary but also the doors it already had in 6 of the 9 panels. It's large and after his initial couple of days seems happy in it. He still gets out as much but seems much happier now. At chatrats suggestion I have bought eye hooks to attach to the inside of the top to hang a hammock.
This is Tucker before he lost his hair:

Tucker and Tess seem to be happy in it. The other babies were very curious about it the first time they all got out after it was done.

That's a really clever re-use of those old cages!  Looks like it came out great.. well done!
