dark brown/orange slimy small poop - Tuesday, January 04, 2011 7:26 PM
My ferret Razzyl has inconsistent poop. Everytime i go to the vet they just throw him on antiobiotics and then he'll be fine for a weeks then it will happen again. Its goes from seedy to slimy. Right now his poops are small. not spaghetti thin but they are like a dime size (circle?) they are kinda slimy and loose so they arent a tube shape? lol (hard to describe) at first im thinking partial blockage so i gave him a syringe full of lax yesterday and still small and i gave him more about an hour ago and after that he willingly ate a syringe full of chicken baby food.  hes not clawing at his mouth or anything so i dont think its a blockage and he doesnt look sickly and hes acting ok maybe a little more sleepy but idk what to do!

Any suggestions?!?!?!?!

* Did you add a new ferret into your household?
* Did you play with any baby ferrets at a store?
* Did your kids play with any new ferrets?

havent played with any new ferrets since the beginning of october and after that he had a green poop that the vet gave him amoxicillin for that, then it was fine until now, other than that no new ferrets

If he's been on a lot of antibiotics he may have an imbalance in his digestive system.  The doc should be able to do a culture on his poops to determine this.
When people ask what its like to live with a ferret I tell them "Its like a herd of toddlers riding a tornado through your house".
