6 year old ferret all tests clear but still bad stomach! - Saturday, March 11, 2017 6:07 AM
Hi All,

I have a very lively energetic male ferret, and after boarding him over xmas he came back with a bad tummy. Although they fed him his usual kibble and raw chicken and took great care of him.

So after a week back home he started having a bad stomach with very loose sometimes watery stools.

He has now had every test possible from full blood to stool tests on every level and nothing has shown any glimpse of issue.

What do we do?  He is just as lively as before, eating, drinking, and sometimes his stools are almost ok.
But a few days later reverts back :(

The vet can not suggest anything else except surgery!

Look forward to your replies.

Regards

Tristan

Hello there,
That seems odd that nothing has come up with all the blood and stool tests, when he has really loose stool, are any of them green?

Hi,

No at its worst, its water and seedy stools. But not green, black, bloody.
More like a yellow colour.

So very strange! But of course we want to firm him up.

Any advice?

great thanks,

would that firm him up then? I think I tried before with soft kibble mixed with pumpkin and boiled chicken, but didn't help too much as he didn't like it. And went mad fro dried kibble when I re introduced it back.

wOuld it be normal for blood and stool tests not to show up anything? would it be something serious if they didn't show anything? or a matter of finding the right diet? just seems food is flying through his body
