Ferrets and Dog treats?
-
Saturday, September 05, 2015 9:17 AM
I am new to ferrets and just got one a few days ago. I'm not sure how old he is but he's maybe about 3 months old. I had given my dogs Nutro dog Biscuits and when I wasn't looking he snatched one from my dog and ate maybe about half of it then shredded the rest. I'm worried whether it will hurt him or not. The ingredients are (chicken, whole brown rice, whole wheat, oatmeal, pumpkin purée, flaxseed, coconut meal, dried chicory pulp, natural flavors, tocopherols). I know they're not supposed to eat fibrous stuff and even though the first ingredient is meat they also seem to have a lot of fiber. Will he get sick form eating it or will it cause a blockage? What are symptoms I should look for? Or might it just pass through and he'll be fine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm really stressing about it. I don't want anything bad to happen to him.

, I think I would pass on the dog biscuits. I would be afraid of a blockage.

One piece probably won't hurt him. I rescued 2 ferrets that had lived for over a year on peidgree dry dog food.
