Jaffa is leaving us

Jaffa turned 6 in May. H'es been fighting The Big 3, all of them, for well over 2 years. Neither melatonin, deslorelin not lupron have done anything to fight the adrenal disease, so he's done it on his own. As I type this he's comatose. I gave him a shot of buprenex for pain a little while ago, but he couldn't even swallow a dose of pred. If he's still breathing when the vet opens I'll be taking him. Was he cute or what? Big Too You really gave em hell, Big Boy. Mommy and Daddy are really going to miss your big wet kisses. You can give em to your sweetheart, Alice now.

Jaffa crossed the Bridge in my arms at 9:02. Dar and I took turns holding him. We hadn't seen any kind of response to stimuli since around 3 AM, even when I injected him. Yesterday morning he was following us around until Dar made him a special bowl of soup. He gave me a final kiss around 2 PM which was rewarded with treats. His departure leaves Yoshi in the alpha seat, and Pandora as the biggest ferret by nearly a full pound. Jaffa was our only private bred ferret, but that didn't protect him from the Big 3. When I met him, he was a big bully, picking on everyone, boy or girl. His last couple years were much calmer, but he still liked to stir the pot occasionally. He was a hunka ferret, once reaching 5 lbs, but averaging 4.5. He was the awesomest kisser ever, even more so than Little Moe (Moe stopped when he went blind), cleaning my beard daily and often putting a french on me. He had an expressive face, and one that could not be denied treats, or anything else he wanted. He will be the first pet we have cremated, as he is one of Dar's remaining good memories of Canada, and we want to take him with us when we move. We're going to look into getting mold kits so we can get paw prints of the others while they're still here.

Hugs and love from SW Fla. Jaffa was a wonderful boy, and what incredible memories you have of him.

Yeah he liked his FMB vacay so much he never poofed once indoors. I just can't believe he's gone.

Sorry for your loss. That's a great idea about the paw print molds!
