What kind of litter box do you have? Most ferrets don't like the small corner ones. I have the rectangle highbacked ones. Ferrets like to get pretty much their whoile bodies in there to go. If you see him backing up to go potty hurry and put him in the litter pan. This gives them the idea that's where to go.Some ferrets are just stubborn. Takes a lot of patience sometimes. Also he's still fairly young. Did your friend have him trained?

I got mine at a pet shop. I think you can also order them online. ferret.com may have them.

Something that really helped me while potty training Meechy was catching him in the act and running him over to his litter box. They have a short digestive tract so if you can commit to watching him for a couple hours, like watching him very closely, wait till you see him backing up into a corner to do his business, grab him QUICK, put him in his litter box, and then block him in there until he does his business. Give him a treat or some ferretone immediatly after. Also, the corner litter box is a big thing...mine will use it but they much prefer the larger rectangle ones (about 5-10$ at any pet store, its just a small cat litter box) hope this helps! Best of luck! It is the best feeling once they are litter trained! Mine will be playing around my house, and actually run back into thier room to use the litte box ! :)
