Goodbye Anastasia
-
Thursday, December 18, 2014 9:02 PM
Nine and a half years ago I joined this forum to talk about my new babies, Anastasia and Rasputin. Time flies. Two years later I got Sarsippius. My dear big boy. Sarsippius died just two weeks short of 5 years on April 5 2013. Rasputin died April 17 2013. Anastasia outlived both of them to our surprise. She's now 9.5 years old. She's lost her hair and became increasingly frail... First unable to climb down and up levels in her cage. Soon after she couldn't get in and out of a litter box so I put wee wee pads in her cage which I change twice a day (I'm at work during the day or I'd do it more) . I knew she was getting very old but I hadn't realized how much so until I went on vacation (bf was home) and returned last night. I held her and the way she looked at me.... The fact she can no longer walk.... She messes herself..... It's time. I knew she would let me know and she has. I called my vet and this Saturday, December 20th at 1:30pm NJ time, Anastasia will take one last walk across the bridge. I knew this day would come eventually but it doesn't hurt any less having known this would happen. Other than adrenal she didn't suffer from ANY diseases. She still gives me kisses.

Wow. 9 1/2 years is a long time for a fuzz. I'm sure she had the best, too. It is sad that The Day has to come eventually for all of them. It's kind of rare that they never have any serious problems by that age, but that sens to be why they do occasionally live that long. Back in October, Alice seemed to be healthy too, but she suddenly went into kidney failure and crossed the Bridge 2 months shy of 6 years old. Give her hugs for me.

I will be giving her lots of love tonight and in the morning. I wish she'd pass on her own. I don't want to do this.

Yeah.... I had to do Alice and it broke my heart... We did all sorts of stuff for 3 days, including 2 hour feedings and BID sub-q fluids, but all the signs started pointing to kidney failure rather than IBD so we had to let her go.

My bad.. My math sinks. She's 8.5. May 14, 2006. There's something going on with her that made me realize it was time. . Besides not really being able to walk, she literally flaps around in circles. Like a drunk person...

She passed peacefully with my kisses with both of us there. With that I am resigning from this board permanently. For those who cared, thank you. It's a shame this Bridge forum has no support system anymore. I'm glad you replied Uncle Joe. Thank you.

My heart hurts for you. I haven't had to go through losing a ferret, and I know it is bound to happen, but I am so terrified for that day to come. They become a part of you, a part of your heart. This is my first experience in being a ferrent, and I can't see my life without them, but at the same time, how am I going to survive losing them? Dook in Paradise, Anastasia.
Hello. My name is Tammie and I am addicted to fuzzbutts.

Anastasia and the rest of your crew were some of my favorites. The cute hats you made for them on their birthdays are memories I treasure. Fly high little one.
