Litter Box attatching to cage
-
Tuesday, November 18, 2014 12:55 PM
Hi, I was wondering if attaching the litter box to the side of the cage is a necessity, and if so, what are some basic ways to do it? (I forgot to order the litter pan with the attachment)

it's not necessary unless the fuzzers decide to move it around. We have 2 that will move the box and poop in the corner. Spring-type clothes pins are enough if the bars and top of the box line up right.

as unclejoe said it's not a requirement. when i first got ferrets they moved the box around so I got one that had clips that would hook into the cage bars but I haven't used one of those for a long time. i use pee pads (for puppies) on the bottom level of my cage and that's their bathroom. they have a litterbox in the bathroom for when they're out but they hardly ever use it ferrets are funny when it comes to litter boxes though - some actually have a preference - so find out what they were using at their previous owners and if they were having success with it. You may end up wanting to get a medium cat litter box (but not use cat litter)
