have to temporarily seperate ferrets
-
Thursday, September 18, 2014 11:56 AM
One of my 2 ferrets has an infection so my vet has told me to seperate them temporarily. Anyone have any suggestions? I feel bad keeping him in his carrying case for that long. Anyone ever had to do this? How did you handle it? Thanks!

Sorry to hear one of your babies is sick. Do you have access to an animal playpen? I wouldn't want to keep your little one in such a small area for long. They need to move around more and its hard to have enough room for sleeping, eating and going potty. I'm sure they'll be out to play but its still not much room. Hope your little one will be ok soon.

I hope he gets well soon. I have had a couple sick ones the past couple months and all they did was sleep, and get up to eat and potty. If you don't have a playpen, could you maybe let him out in a bathroom to stretch for a bit? It's better to be safe than to have 2 sick ones. What kind of infection is it, if I can ask?

The vet isn't actually sure what it is, but is treating him for infection to see if that makes the problem go away. He is currently staying in my bathtub. But I have it set up nice with blankets and such. He seems pretty content with his current situation :)

How long to keep sick ferret seperate
-
Saturday, September 20, 2014 10:43 PM
Hello, I have two ferrets, one of which is currently sick. The vet isn't quite sure what he has, but is treating him for infection to eliminate the possibility of infection to help narrow down what is wrong with him. Due to all this, I am having to house my ferrets separately. The sick ferret has been on antibiotics for 24 hours. With humans, you are no longer contagious after 24 hours on antibiotics. Does anyone know if this is the case for ferrets also? Thanks!

I would keep your little one separate from the others, until he/she is feeling better.
