My ferrets won't eat the dry food now! - Saturday, August 23, 2014 11:02 AM
Ever since I started supplementing my ferrets dry food with soup they no longer want to eat the dry. The dry is evo. I grind up the evo and add duk soup mix to make the soup. How can I get them to also eat the dry? They have become very picky with anything other than soup now.

I'm a meanie (lol) so I would just offer dry, no wet.

But you can also make the soupie more chunky and less wet, incorporating larger pieces into it to wean them off.

Ferrets: Wesley, Percy, Owen    -rip Bandit-
Bettas- Kitty, Pip, and Logan
Sun Conure- Kita
Gerbils- Piper and Tailer

I would offer them just dry but one of them has insulinoma and he can't go very long without eating. He would pass out before being forced to eat the dry. He has completely manipulated me!

I like this suggestion.

I agree try not to crush the dry food just let it get squishy in bigger chunks, if it works use only a little bit of liquid, and less each time. Then don't let it get squishy just wet, it might just be a taste thing (come on you know stuff always tastes better with gravy/sauce) Have you tried other liquids other than a premix duck soup, or do you make your own? I use chicken broth and bits of chicken. Take trimmings (fat too) boil in water, then I freeze in ice cube tray. Single serving soup. You could also offer only dry to the others and separate the one when its feeding time, give him soup. Have you tried any other foods? It is best not to rely on only 1 brand of food if they change the formula (Wysong just did) or it is out of production (like EVO was for a few months) you may have serious problems try adding another dry kibble to your mix so their is some variety and a backup. good luck
