Ferret Diarrhea
-
Wednesday, August 13, 2014 4:47 PM
My ferret, Tiberius, male, about 1.3 years old, is having some diarrhea. Its not really heavy, and its not every time he poops, its every 3-4 times, one will be less really mushy. He still eats, drinks and plays and hasn't shown any other signs or symptoms of illness. Should I be especially worried?

Not yet. Have you changed or added any food recently?

He occasionally eats the cat food, but not typically. I put the cat bowl up when he gets to play. But otherwise, no.

its every 3-4 times, one will be less really mushy. I'd keep an eye on it. A wee bit of stress, or different food (or treat) may cause a less firm poop. If it's totally liquid and foul smelling, I'd definitely see a vet, but 25% of the time having a softer poop, to me, means to simply keep an eye on it.

I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.
