Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

This is Ella, and her tail has done this ever since she grew in her adult coat.  

It's like all the fur on the end of her tail just breaks off like you see here and the broken fur is a lot lighter than the rest of her tail. It grows back after a few weeks, but then a month after that it happens again. It's a never ending cycle, and I have no idea what's going on! She is the only one this is happening to.
This happens when she's both in her summer (right now) or winter coats. It's doesn't matter.

She's almost 2 years old.
Marshal ferret.
Has much longer fur than the others. Her summer coat looks like a winter coat, and her winter coat is just ridiculously fluffy. She's also extremely soft and silky.


Anyone have any ideas?

Some ferrets are prone to acne, especially on their tails, which can cause hair loss. Have you seen any white/black heads on the tail? If so, using a mild shampoo to wash just the tail every couple weeks should help. Otherwise I would recommend seeing a vet soon as hair loss is related to a lot of their diseases.

I probably should of been more clear.... There is no balding or hairloss. She doesn't have any blackheads on her tail or anything. This isn't a case of rat tail. It looks like someone took scissors to her tail. The hair is broken off 2/3rd of the way down the hair shaft.

Fenway's tails looks that.....more hair loss on top of the tail.   It looks pretty funny. He does have hair on the bottom of tail.   No black heads.

Just funky tail shed.
