Imprinting in Odd Objects? - Monday, July 07, 2014 4:43 AM
So I went out and bought all the fun toys for Puck. Dook and Dance rollers, fun soft toys, balls, cat toys, fake running mice, etc... Puck loved all of it. For a minute.

He, instead, prefers to steal toys... One in particular that he is absolutely neurotic about is a metal perfume cap (antique bottle)... If he SEES me near it or where it is hidden he has a melt down full on ferret tantrum, and hides it again. Going as far as scooting it underneath him as if I don't know he has it. If anyone else gets near it he hisses and war dances until he re-hides it. This is without us touching it!

I'm so confused as to what is so attractive about this object when he has so many GOOD actual toys!

Do your ferrets do this?

Panda ignores her toys and goes for my drape holdbacks that are fabric green with yellow braid along the side.  She hides the two of them and then hides them 5 times while she's out.    It looks like she has a standard, her own flag.  Raven likes the toys that squeak and ignores everything else, so all my dogs squeaky toys are gone he hides them then will pace or war dance if i try to take them back.  I thought it was normal behavior.

I think they just like certain items.. Bear doesn't play with toys unless I'm also playing with them. He also doesn't seem to care about objects at all outside of shoes - he LOVES shoes. He steals our insoles and hides them in his bed.

Toki, on the other hand, loves EVERYTHING. She loves toys, bags, PENS, anything she can wrap her mouth around. She plays with balls with bells in them(carries them around making a lot of noise) then leaves them in the open. She is not posessive about them. On the other hand with the odd objects, she hides them. I found my spare car key, all of the ferret collars, misc pens, cat toys that she doesn't actually play with, one of my hotwheel cars, a spare cell phone battery, and a mass of forks in her hiding spot. The forks were previously in a box of "Stuff I don't want/need" and I guess she liberated them one by one.

I wouldn't be concerned unless your ferret takes something small enough to swallow, or something that could hurt her like a lid to something toxic. I wasn't happy when I found the cell phone battery, but she didn't chew on it she just stole it.

I have 2 insole stealers.  Toki reminds me of Bella, my first ferret.  She spent her whole life stealing things.  Her favorites were dog kibble (as far as I know, she never ate any, it was just the right size) paint balls (yes, paint balls) and anything with rubber on it.  Erika had a thing for pens with rubber grips, and she knew how to get into the desk drawer to get them.

Oh God they sound exactly the same. I keep having to throw out curtain push rods. We just moved here a few months ago, and somehow she manages to steal the rubber ends off of them when I open the door to the room they're in, in like 3 minutes. I may just go in for something and then out again, but that's the only source of them. She chew them all to hell and I have to throw them and the rod away, lol. She doesn't seem to eat rubber thankfully. The pen grips she does as well, she chews them off of the pens and I find the grips laying around and no pens.. then later I clear out our recliner and they're there. I think she thinks its a safe spot because we rarely use the chair because of the hazard of it, so she stashes crap in it.

She also stole a bag of shelf clips from my one DVD shelf, I just recovered those this week and we moved in in April. She managed to stash some things in between our two box springs in our bed as well, mostly little balls of paper and weird items (like the pen grips). She steals this gross sheep cat toy. I don't think she likes it, I just think she likes the cat not having it. She also steals the NES games from our TV Cabinet, she doesn't chew on them but they're relocated everywhere. The funniest thing I think she attempted to take (aside from an entire curtain rod) was the cable to our printer. I tried to throw it away because it was broken and she took it out of the bin and was trying to run around with it, but pieces of it kept touching her and freaking her out but she wouldn't let go so she was just running backwards and jumping all over with this bent up mess of cord.

She's a hoot. She's my "special" one, lol.

Oh I forgot to ask, Did Bella have a weird thing with water? Toki won't swim and hates baths, but she goes to great lengths to climb up to where I feed the cats. She enjoys their fountain. She likes to put her arm in and get it wet, then squeek it across the rim of the bowl in a scratching motion before she goes full crazy flailing her arms all over the place trying to snorkel... We sit and watch her do it it's ridiculous lol.

My boy Rocket stole my Chihuahua Nena's little pink elephant and new blue squeaky plush toy. He likes the crumple sound it has. He likes plastic bags and stuff too. I bought him a tube hammock with the crumply plastic in it and he falls asleep in it. Slinky doesnt care for those toys but hisses at anyone close to his squeaky rubber dog bone. Like a really breathy sigh.

Pirate has a few favorites and is POSSESSIVE of them he has 2 vibrating toys (pull the string they vibrate, got them on ferret.com) that if anyone touches or even moves them from his hidey hole in his cage he gives you the look of death, doesn't really play with them just hides and hordes them. He is also very attached to his seahorse it was a cat teaser toy that has long since lost the string and is now just a plush seahorse, this was one of his very 1st toys he got when he was a kit, along with his 'Fish' cat teaser toy, this he loves when we play with him and will stash it if we leave it where he can get it. He really only stashes toys in his cage with the exception of trying to get into what we call the "Forbidden Ferret Zone" (Behind The couch) he will try countless times to get past us and over the barrier to get to this ferret nirvana (don't know what is soo awesome back there but all 3 try like mad to get in) The odd "TOY" he loves isn't a toy at all, its the carpet shark (brush vacuum) if we take it out he goes bonkers, don't have to turn it on just seeing it incites ferret overload. he attacks it, jumps on it and will even push it around the floor (If I turn it on he will clean the floors for us). He loves/hates it so much I use it as a means to lure him out or get him to follow me cause when its out he will follow it like the pied piper. Captain is not much for toys he will pounce on the odd plush dog/ferret toy, or chase a cat teaser for a bit but that's it. Morgan is the Thief, if it is a toy and is on the floor its MINE MINE MINE and must go under the cage. Funny part is a few of the dog toys are too big to fit under the cage so it becomes quite entertaining to watch. All 3 are obsessed with shoes but I think that is in the ferret handbook (must have shoe fetish!!!) Plastic bags, paper bags, empty boxes are ALL favorites, makes me wonder sometimes why I buy toys at all when I can get an empty box/bag and they are entertained for hours. Empty water/soda bottles are also a hit with Pirate and Morgan, dogs too.

This makes sense to me, why they horde their favorite things. Imagine you have a precious stuffed animal you have had for a long time. Would you want to play with it and risk it? Or would you want to keep it safe in a special place where you know it is? Perhaps hoarding behavior is due to this.

You just alerted me that my treasured item is MIA from where I left it. I wonder which one stole it lol

There are multiple variants of Blackjack online, which make the game all the more enjoyable. It should come as no surprise that the online version of the game is slowly becoming more popular than the traditional version played at brick and aussie casino news.

Card counting is a strategy used primarily in Blackjack to determine whether the next hand will be in favor of the player or the dealer. Counting cards significantly reduces the house edge that a casino has on a player. It has been proven to be an effective strategy that wins good card counters a lot of money while playing blackjack at land-based casinos, which is also why many casinos tend to frown on this action. Unfortunately, most online casinos use software to randomly generate and deal out cards from a full deck every time new hands are dealt, making card counting ineffective. just look [font="docs-calibri; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap"]thai flower slotthai flower slot you will like it

I love playing online games, especially blackjack, which is one of the oldest and most popular gambling games. It is a classic casino 'beat the dealer' game. if you are looking to beat the game of blackjack, check our https://kasynoonlineautomaty.pl/polskie-kasyno-online guide that will help you maximize your winning chances

All sports events on the outcome of which it is possible to bet are in the bookmaker's line, which is conventionally divided into pre-match (bets before the event) and in-play (bets during the event). The home page of your best bookmakers Australiabest bookmakers Australia will almost always have a basic line, which includes the most popular sporting events. The main line usually offers the main outcomes - a win for the first team, a draw, a win for the second team. Less often there is a total (number of goals) and a handicap (the relative advantage of one team over the other).
