hey everyone, so the tests are complete on Tex, he DOES have lymphoma. Oncologist says they are ready to treat him for chemo or leave him on pred. Here is the thing though, she said that because he has been on pred (an effective treatment for lymphoma) for 2 years, he may have built up an immunity to the pred, which will completely negate the chemo. Does anybody have any experience with chemo? Please. ANything would be great. She will have an estimate for me next week, I already know it will be ridiculous. I have to think this one hard and through, I don't know how much time he has, and how much I can buy him, I will ask the oncologist when we speak this coming week.

Oh, no, I'm really sorry. I have no experience with chemo. I've only dealt with lymphoma once, and only med was pred. It kept Larry going for a year.

I am sorry to hear of the lymphoma diagnosis. I personally haven't done chemo with any of my lymphoma kids. The cost seems exhorbitant (in my opinion) for the number of days of quality life the ferret gains after chemo. We have treated our lymphoma kids with pred, and usually some herbal supplement supplied by our vet.

thats exactly why I wanted your guy's input. i knowthe cost is ridiculous. Im probably going to opt for the pred, because i am going to break the bank treating him for i dont know how much time it will buy him. he IS 5, and he seems very healthy no pain at all. If the pred can get him a year, I would be happy. What do you guys think?

Yeah , Larry never really presented with signs of pain, but I only had him a few months when he was dxed. Pred is actually used for pain. Best wishes. Keep us updated.

Larry ended up with pred belly, but I'm not realy sure if it was from the pred or the fact that the cancer metastasized in his liver. I have pics, but it's not pretty, because he also went adrenal toward the end. I never treated the adrenal because there was no stopping the lymphoma by that point. He must have had lymphoma when I got him because he already had a big belly. At the end, his belly was as round and big as an apple. His blood work was never off by much, other than creatanine, an indicator of kidney function. Depending in where Tex's tumors are, oyu may not see that. What tests did your vet do to diagnose?

Wow Larry looks exactly like a younger Tex, he's really cute. first there was xrays, then bloodwork, then a ct scan, then finally an ultrasound. The masses are in his abdomen and chest, also the ones behind his eyes. He does have a big belly.
