New to Ferrets - Monday, July 13, 2015 5:27 PM
Hi, I rescued a ferret from a lady on Craigslist this past Friday. I didn't expect him to be in as bad of shape as he was when I got there. She had left him outside in the sun (I live in Florida so 95 degrees + right now) without any water. He was living in a wire bottom cage and eating Kibbles 'N Bits. Needless to say, he was very underweight when I went and grabbed him and very dehydrated. I was worried he wouldn't even make the ride home.

His appetite is great now and he is a very happy little guy. He gets let out many times a day to run around and nap in my room and has stolen the hearts of my boyfriend and I. He is about 7 months old according to his previous owner and I believe he is a Marshall ferret because of the 2 tattooed dots on his ear.

He's still pretty skinny but looking worlds better from where he was. You can still see almost every rib in his body, his spine and his hip bones when he stands.

Without further ado, here's Slinky.

Congratulations on your little one and thank you for rescuing him!  To put some weight on him, you might think about adding some Chicken broth baby food with tablespoon of heavy whipping cream.  This will help
put the weight on.

You can also make your own Duck soup.  This is healthy treat and will help in the future.  If your little one goes off kibbles or if you have to give meds.

Welcome to forum!

Thank you! I already have made duck soup and it really helped him perk up. How can I attach photos to my posts?

Hi.  Your little one sounds like a couple pairs I rescued a few years ago.  I'm in Florida, too.
you can go to postimg.org and load photos there, then copy and paste the IMG link into your post.  Same thing if you have a photobucket or flickr account.

Welcome to the group.

Is there any way I can directly attach it? I tried but it wouldn't upload. I also tried attaching from a link and that didn't work.
