So my Marley has been having this discharge from his ear and its drying up and making crust on it. It's only in his left ear. I heard it was normal for a ferret to produce a lot of wax sometimes, and it was reddish-brown, but today i cleaned it and it was yellow and goopy. I called the vet and made an appointment, but do you guys think this is normal or should I still go? Also, he doesn't seem to be scratching or rubbing his ear against the floor and it doesn't smell.

Could be mites and/or a yeast infection.  The Rocket had both and that's what his ear looked like, but the gunk was darker and it smelled a bit.  I expected mites but not a yeast infection in the ear.  I would get it checked.

Good news and $100 later....The vet said his ear is just very waxy. She gave me some ear cleaner to apply 2x a week for 2 weeks. His ear looked a lot better this morning but I still brought him anyways!

Do you clean ears regularly?  We clean them every couple weeks, or every other time we do nails.
